Ripples on the water
hair tangled in the breeze
sun filtered through vine maple
reflecting colors of the leaves.
Needle covered path
bordered with clover and fern
muffles the sound of foot steps
on each and every turn.
Fallen trees a host to beetles
crumble into the floor
providing cycle of life
for nature to restore.
Soft bed of mooss
serenaded by a stream
sheltered from the world
a safe place to dream.
A world created in heaven
nestled outside my backdoor
with such beauty in abundance
I shall never be poor.
