SPRING GARDEN
Spring has arrived at the gardens
Overtaking the short bleak days of winter,
The silence of cold and darkness
Turns into sounds of life;
Days of warmth have given birth
Rekindling life that slept through the cold winter.
Birds are nesting high in the trees
Calling - Singing - A song of Spring
Rejoicing in a new season;
Bullfrogs - Deep throated calls
Bellow across the pond - Imprinting their presence,
Partaking in a chorus of rejoicing
For the warm sunny days ahead are a time of renewal
A time of a new season - A rebirth.
Plants - New growth breaks through the ground
Feeding off the warm soil - Nourished
From the filtered suns rays touching the ground
Giving forth delicate flowers and essence;
Crabapples splash color through the garden
Minnows darting - Skimming across the water
Trillium blanket the shady areas beneath the trees
Bumblebees hoover over the fresh flowers
Carrying away the sweet nectar;
Ducks appear from out in the sky
Wings spread - Softly landing on the pond
Newts gently glide under the shallow water
Zig zagging amongst the minnows and tadpoles;
Moss laden rocks at the waters edge
Reflecting a glimmer of deep rich green
Sounds of the garden overtake the noise of the wind
Flowing through the slightly swaying treetops;
A new day - A new beginning for all that dwell here
A time of celebration welcoming a new season,
The heavy scent of lilac Fills the air
My senses are aroused - My spirit is uplifted
As I reflect upon the hour of the day.
