HARMONY WITHIN
Trees along the streams bank
Cast of vibrant shades of green
Reflecting the rays of the sun
Shining bright through a clear sky;
Water gently flowing - Ripples
Swirls around a log in it's path
On which turtles bask in delight;
Frogs hidden among the cattails bellow
Squirrels chatter high in the trees
As if to announce my presence;
Songs of the birds are so joyful
Creating an aura of happiness
Gratifying - Satisfying my spirit;
Wildflowers bloom everywhere
Flowers so bright - Intense with color
A panoramic feast to feed upon.
I stand in the midst of this place
Observing all that is around me,
The air is so fresh - Pure
No fog or haze to obstruct my vision,
Seems as if the world is at peace here
Creating an ambiance of harmony,
Harmony - Peace within ones spirit.
When will I find harmony within myself.
Thoughts on harmony: (written in 1969 - a time of exploration and self discovery in my life)
Harmony
An ocean, a swift stream, a pine
forest, and a red cardinal in
all
At first it is hard to visualize how we, so seem
ingly puny and minute,
of it's colorful majesty all symbolize nature. Man also
has a nature,
an inner nature,
his soul. I believe that the nature of God's
creation
affects us, man, His highest creation.
Man's mystic force,
known as the soul, retorts
closely with nature and is satisified by
it's tranquil
effect. As man observes the highest mountains or the
vast deserts of apparent nothingness, he cannot help
to wonder
how these divine creations attest his inner
being.
fit into this universal world
with all of it's beauty and harmony. Since
man is the
most diverse creature in this existence, he cannot
rely on
his own creations or inventions to comfort him.
In my longing for a
personal peace for my inner
being, my soul, I have turned to nature.
I find that
in the seeking of nature's vast resources, it duly brings
me
closer to knowing my inner self - the real me, and
my God; revolving
around the natural world which He
created. I find myself at the
complete command of nature
as I observe it's natural wonders in motion.
I cannot
help but feel that I have a place in this spider web of
life, so
intricately woven. I now find myself being
seized by this network of
harmony. I have now found my
place in my natural world and a communication between
my outer shell and my inner soul.
I find now that
the deserts are no longer vast and
empty, and neither are the mountains
so high or out of
reach. What other emotive feeling, if any, can comfort
me and place me in this vast and diverse world in
which I live?
