FROG POND

Pond glistens as a light breeze creates little ripples
As if dancing across the surface in gentle motions,
Blooming lily pads float buoyantly upon the water
Dragonflies flitting in an undeviating pattern
Wings fluttering in a rapid motion - yet paused;
As if their flight is in a state of suspension.
Frogs bellowing - calling each other across the pond
In a chorus that is a symphony of sound,
While sitting on the lily pads - eyes protruding;
Sentries of the pond - guardians of all it's inhabitants
Sounding a vociferous alarm of any intrusion.
Butterflies move from bloom to bloom
Searching for a sweet nectar to feed upon,
Nourishment for their promenade around the pond.
Minnows at waters edge - darting - flickers of light
Zig zagging - little beams radiating off their presence,
Reflecting the sun's beacon through the water.
Images of the clouds - slowly floating and drifting
Across the powder blue sky - fall upon the pond;
The birds sing a song in harmony with each other
As they rest on the overhanging willow branches
Taking flight only to feed upon what is offered below
A feast to sustain and nourish themselves.
And a gentle wind moves the air - so soothing
Refreshing all that dwell in this marvelous creation.
