NATURE'S CATHEDRAL

Sun rising over the tree tops so bright
Air fresh and clear - clouds slowly drift by
High against the turquoise sky
As I look skyward towards the heavens,
Giving thanks for all that surrounds me;
For everything I see and hear in this forest
Is a blessing - A gift from God.

The pine trees stand so straight and tall
Shades of green fill the outward branches
Reaching out to catch the rays of sunlight
That feed these spiring giants of the forest.

The eagle - So majestic in flight
Riding on the currents of a gentle breeze
Soars high above the treetops
As if a guardian of the heavens above.

The forest floor is alive with life as
Squirrels chase each other around tree trunks
Chipmunks scurry among the rocks and leaves
And the songbirds fill the air with melodies.

In a small clearing amongst the trees
Delicate flowers peak out from the soil
Butterflies touch the sweet nectar of the blooms
A tortoise slowly proceeds on it's journey.

My eyes and ears reflect the awe of nature
As I stand before a perfect creation
That fills my spirit with peace;
I feel a presence with me today
A power that is above all the earth;
God has touched me and I give Him thanks.

Epilog:

Standing along a shoreline looking out at the horizon
Waves rushing towards the beach - gulls fly overhead
Walking along a forest trail -essence of pine fill the air
Birds building nests - renewing - replenishing life
Spider webs span the branches - built to perfection
Every living thing has a purpose here - a place.

A place to us go to commune with God
For all around us is His creation;
From the vast oceans that cover the earth
To the forest that blanket the landscape;
From mountains that stand tall - indestructible
To a delicate hummingbird - receiving life from a flowers nectar.

The perfection of life intertwined - flawless
A creation made by the hand of God
That should be respected - cherished - nourished
Received - Received by all that stand here
As a gift - A blessing from our Father
To each and every one of us - For in His infinite wisdom
Provided us with a place to reflect upon the beauty
Within our world - A place for us to go to search our souls
A place to give thanks.

My loved ones - may the Grace of God deeply enrich
and bless every one of you - for many of you have been a true blessing in my life and I am truly very grateful.
