REFLECTIONS OF MY SPIRIT

These pages are a reflection of an era as seen through my eyes; an era of violence, hatred, love, causes, being committed or non-committal. A time when I studied life and the world around me - a study of the realities of the world and to what direction my life was progressing. Within the era of my lifetime I have witnessed a time of change resulting in a restructuring of society's social and moral values along with a total reevaluation of our society's infrastructure. My earliest writing was written in 1968, the year my eyes were opened as a young adult to a world driven by politics and greed, using the lives of our young people as pawns in a game of power and wealth. Although written in what may seem to be a different era, many of the issues are just as relevant today as they were then. The rest of my writing was written in the years to follow as I felt the need to document my feelings, thoughts and emotions that created my moods. The poetry and writing within these pages are my perceptions of how I evaluate and co-exist in the world around me. A co-existence that is not easy at times, as it brings little satisfaction; nor is it very productive and enriching, as our society tends to still be moving in a self-serving and self-gratifying direction; which will eventually lead to the demise of all that is wholesome and held sacred in our hearts if we allow it to happen. A co-existence that can also bring joy and peace of mind, a feast for us to feed upon. There is so much beauty in the world we dwell in that is ours, a gift from God to all of us. The gift of the sweet song of a bird, the vastness of the oceans, the power of a waterfall, the lushness of a forest, the scent of a flower. I hope the writings on the pages that follow allow you to see the world that I live in.
